This body of work is from my most recent series of work titled A flower as a gesture, I explore the space between presence and absence, thinking about how fragile identity and culture can be.
To understand this, I turn to something simple and familiar: the flower. It isn’t just something beautiful to look at—it quietly marks time, reminding us how quickly things appear, change, and Disappear.
The flower becomes a way of reflecting on our own lives. In the arc of a single stem—from a full, vibrant bloom to its slow withering—we can recognize something deeply human. The bloom feels like a moment of certainty, when identity is clear, visible, and fully formed. The withering, however, tells a different story. It shows how time softens everything—how form shifts, how certainty fades, and how identity is never as fixed as we think. There’s a quiet sense of absence that begins to emerge, both personal and collective.
Through this, I think about identity not as something permanent, but as something that is always changing. What feels stable now won’t remain the same. And within that realization, there is both discomfort and a kind of quiet beauty.
